BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management

This qualification prepares individuals for the role where they will apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements. Graduates will have learnt to plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.

The course consists of four (4) core and eight (8) elective units of competency selected within the packaging rules of this qualification. APC Design School has a BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management through consultations with industry and commerce.

Pathways into the qualification
This qualification is suitable for students with qualifications in the area of business or vocational experience in a range of work environments in senior support roles but without a qualification. It is also suitable for recent school leavers who don’t yet have vocational experience but want to pursue a career in the field.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. To be eligible for this qualification, applicants must:
• Be over the age of 18
• Have an appropriate level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills to complete the course
The following criteria is seen as an advantage:
• Be employed in a workplace in a role similar to those stated above for a minimum of 20 hours per week

• Have the willing support of their employer
• Hold the BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business, or other relevant qualification/s or have vocational experience in a managerial or senior leadership role.

Pathways from the qualification
This qualification is nationally recognised and can only be delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) such as APC Design School that complies with the governing standards of quality control and quality training and assessment. Upon completion of the course assessments a successful student will be awarded a BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management. Students who exit the training program without completing all assessments will be issued with a statement of attainment for those units in which they have demonstrated competency. Graduates with this qualification often occupy a managerial role and most often have a suitable title reflecting this role within most commercial sectors.

Course Duration
Diploma course duration depends on: a student’s pre existing qualifications and experience, a student’s full time or part time status and study commitment and finally the pace at which the student studies. Our Diplomas can be studied full-time or part time with the student deciding on their own study pace by enrolling in either one or two subjects per Term. Normal duration is one year full-time; two years part-time.

It is expected that the student will allow 10 hours (part time) to 20 hours (full time) per week for their classes and home and work study. APC Design School’s academic year is divided into 8 terms of study per year, with enrolments in January, February, April, May, July, August, October and November of each year.
