Miriam Gelbart

Profile: Miriam Gelbart has worked in the Early Childhood field for over 30 years, and holds the qualifications: B.A, Diploma of Education, and Diploma of Early Childhood Education.

Her most recent roles have been as Director and Teacher of Early Childhood Services, where she led teams in Pre-Schools and Long Daycare Centres. She has also had experience in lecturing in the early childhood field at Colleges of Pre-School and has worked as a validator and childcare advisor with National Childcare Accreditation Council.

Her roles in the Early Childhood Sector have included responsibility for the overall day to day running of the Pre-Schools and Long Daycare Centres, guidance to the Board of Management on compliance with licensing regulations, teaching and ensuring the environment was in keeping with Centre philosophy, Child Protection, Policies, Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards.

As an experienced Pre-School Educator she has mentored and lead her educators, staff, families to create an environment filled with wonder and delight, enabling children to take risks and explore.

As educational leader she was integral in guiding and preparing her team through the process of achieving Accreditation of the centre to the National Accreditation body ACECQA. She is a skilled manager and has maintained and encouraged strong communication between all staff/educators and with the Board of Management. As well as this she was on the committee of a local Network Directors group that met quarterly to further professional development.

Miriam is committed to and passionate about continued high quality childcare for all children . She feels very strongly about empowering future educators through knowledge, learning , professional development, reflection and further education which will provide children with a foundation for growth and learning and give them the best experiences in Early Childhood to set them up for life.

Profile: With almost 5 years full time work experience in the Childcare sector, Ms Kowaider has a wealth of knowledge that contributes to her teaching. She is passionate about the impact of the early years in child development and is committed to the training of well-prepared Childcare Professionals.
Her qualifications in both Childcare and Interpreting are great assets to the Virtu team and bring a strong understanding and sensitivity to the LLN requirements and needs of our students.

Ms Rola Baghdadi








Title: RTM – CEO / Lecturer
Qualifications: BTeach, DipComServ, CertIV TAE

Profile: Ms Rola Baghdadi is a friendly and energetic teacher with over 10 years in early childhood education. Motivated to help children become happy, healthy and well-behaved she develops curriculum with a child’s biological, cognitive and socio-emotional processes in mind. Committed to the healthy maturation of every child involved.

Rola is an Early Childhood Development Teacher who recognizes that the first few years of a child’s life are highly formative and influential.

She adopts a nurturing and encouraging approach to child guidance and is an early a teacher committed to each child’s successful cognitive, physical and emotional progress. Rola also leads continuing education and is highly organized and driven. Rola employs effective and efficient methods of teaching while focusing on the individual needs of each student bringing to bear her extensive background in education to help students achieve lasting success in the classroom and the work place. Ms Baghdadi evaluates the needs of each student and tailoring lesson planning and classroom instruction to encourage academic success.

Professor Ron Newman






Title: Chief Executive Officer / Lecturer

Profile: As a professional designer who joined the ranks of academia full time in 1994, Professor Newman brings a mix of design and business experiences to higher education and an acute business acumen to the management of projects and academic units.

Professor Newman completed his studies in Industrial Design at the National Art School (NAS) in the early 1970s and has held various design and design management positions in Australia and Europe. Senior design positions with Philips, Email and for six years as Research and Development Manager for Sebel Furniture paralleled his editorial stewardship of the national magazine Design in Australia and various executive roles within the Design Institute of Australia (DIA).

For five years in the late 1980s Professor Newman was the Chief Executive Officer of the public company, Exhibit Resources, which he established, a company involved in design and fabrication of museums and exhibitions. Professor Newman has

held many board directorships and consultancy positions to major companies.

Professor Newman was Head of School of Design Studies, College of Fine Arts (COFA), the University of New South Wales (UNSW) for eight years from 1992 to 2000 and from 2002 for 4 years he was Director & Dean of Sydney College of the Arts, the visual arts Faculty of the University of Sydney. In January 2005 Auckland University through its business incubator, IceHouse, appointed Professor Newman into a parallel role as Entrepreneur in Residence, a residency designed to initiate new collaborations within Auckland University and encouraging outreach to the commercial community of New Zealand.

In September 2006 Professor Newman left the University of Sydney, to join Raffles Education Corp (REC) to become Vice President and later (2008) President of Raffles University System, at REC’s headquarters in Singapore. Professor Newman left REC in 2011 and is currently CEO of Virtu Institute.
